Why You Should Take A Power Nap

I want to get things done after I get home from my day job.

I want to work on my mission or go to the gym, most people come home from work and relax for the rest of the night, after they have a shower and cook dinner they spend their 1 to 2 hours of free time watching Netflix or something, they are spent, they have used all there energy at work that day and don’t want to produce results anymore, they want to consume now.

They keep up this habit of producing results at their day job and spend the rest of their time consuming. Then 10 years later they are still in the same situation and they get jealous when they see someone else who has achieved more in their spare time.

I am motivated to be the second type of person, but unfortunately, after working 8-12 hour days at my regular job, I’m spent when I come home, I tried to produce as soon as I got home but it was unproductive, I found myself wanting to relax, so I laid on my back and shut my eyes, I had a micro sleep for about 15-30 minutes, after that I felt groggy for about 15 minutes, but after that I felt refreshed, ready to produce, it made a huge difference.

It annoys me that in the morning after I wake up and have a coffee I am ready to take on the world, but after using my time and energy at my day job all day I don’t have much left.

Now I take a nap after work if I need it, it only takes 30 minutes max but the benefits last for the rest of the night, you will be completely rejuvenated.

So what should you do? After you get home from work, or any time during the afternoon when you can, after you have had a shower, shut your eyes and relax.

You may need to set an alarm if you fall asleep easy, set this for 30 minutes, personally I don’t fall asleep, I do enter the early stages though where I experience mini dreams.

This is what usually happens.

Shut your eyes, if your eyes are really tired when you shut them you will get a slight stinging sensation.

5-10 minutes in you will start having mini dream like thoughts that don’t always make sense.

15-30 you will be asleep or half asleep.

After the 30 you will want to stop having your nap as any more you will feel groggy or not be able to get up.

If you sleep for too long during the day you may disturb your regular sleep cycle.

If you nail it and wake up soon enough you won’t feel groggy at all, you will be completely alert and refreshed, experiment with this, you may need only 20 minutes to achieve this.

After your nap you should experience these benefits that I experience.

A pleasant sensation in your brain, not sure what this is it could be feel good chemicals

More energy and alertness

Improved memory and ability to learn

Improved focus

Improved motivation

Eyes feel refreshed and awake

So as you can see the benefits of having a power nap are huge, that’s why it’s called a power nap.

With your increased energy it’s time to work on your mission, whether that’s working on your business, goals, side job, gym, or even looking after your family better or having fun.

So I encourage all of you to not let your day job use all your energy to the point where you become a consumer after work and get nowhere in 10 years, do this simple but powerful thing and take a nap.
