In this article i will explain why you should do cardio

Cardio is very important; a lot of guys go to the gym to build muscle but neglect cardio vascular health.

Your heart and lungs are your most important muscle; you should make sure you exercise the cardio vascular system with cardio exercise.

Your heart and lungs pump blood and oxygen around your body, when you do cardio regularly, you strengthen the heart and lungs, this makes them very efficient at doing their job.

A lot of body builders say they only do 10 minutes of walking on a treadmill a week for cardio; this is crap, this shows they care more about looks than health, you need to do at least 1 good cardio session a week; a 10 minute walk won’t do shit.

Regardless if you are trying to gain weight and don’t want to burn calories, you should do at least 1 or more cardio sessions a week for at least 20mins.

I like to do 1-2 cardio sessions a week for about 30-60minutes each.

I use to play soccer so that was my cardio taken care of, but now I push myself to do cardio every week.

I know how you feel, cardio is boring, going to the gym to do cardio can be boring, that’s why I make cardio enjoyable. I live near the coast so I like to go for a bike ride, run or walk to get my cardio in.

If you don’t have any nice atmosphere where you live what you can do is drive to a nice place like a park, lake, beach or wherever you like and then go for a run or whatever in that area, or you can even start at your house and make that nice area your destination then you can take a break when you get there and then come back.

If you don’t like that another thing you can do is join a sport or group fitness thing, when I use to play soccer, I was doing cardio without even thinking about it.

For example you could start surfing or tennis and that would be fine.

There is such thing as to much cardio though, I have read research that shows that if you do cardio for long periods of time like in marathons and you do them a lot, this actually stresses the heart to much and over time this can put you at risk of a heart attack.

Personally I wouldn’t do any more than 1 hour of cardio, and make sure you don’t push yourself to hard, if you have not done cardio recently start of slow with walking, then after a few weeks you might want to run, and then you can do sprinting or something if you want.

I have read that high intensity training works better than same pace cardio, for example in (HIT) training you would run fast for a minute, walk for a minute, run fast for a minute, walk for a minute. This makes sense because if you jog for 30 minutes at one pace, your heart rate will reach a maximum for that jog and not much more but if you do 20minutes of hit training, your heart rate will go much higher during the fast run, so its pushed to work harder in less time.

Cardio has many health benefits like reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes and heaps of other illnesses.

If you are trying to lose weight, you should be doing cardio as part of your plan.

But most importantly it makes you happy!, when you get outside and do cardio like I told you, you will feel awesome while and after you do it, cardio is like a natural free antidepressant!
